Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Receives High Honors at Indy International Wine Competition
High Honors at Indy; local vintners have more to brag about this year after taking home Double Gold and Best of Class from the 2013 Indy International Wine Competition. Blue Sky Vineyards and Von Jakob Vineyard received top honors in many categories.
Best of Class, the "best of class" category in the wine competition, went to Blue Sky Vineyard's 2012 Seyval Blanc, a light-bodied white wine with hints of apple and pear. Von Jakob Vineyard also earned a "best of class", "Fruit Wine of the Year", and a Double Gold for Johnathan Apples, Streakin' Johnny a delicious hard apple cider. Blue Sky Vineyard's Seyval Blanc and Cabernet Franc also received Double Gold. Overall The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail took two Best of Class, three Double Gold, three Silver, and one Fruit Wine of the Year.
The 2013 Indy International Wine Competition was held July 31- August 1. The Indy International Wine Competition is the largest wine competition in
the United States, the world's largest wine market, has nearly 3,000 entries from 15 countries and 40 states, and 50 distinguished judges.
