Having
the luxury of being able to choose from Illinois' finest fruit from
local orchards and farms, the owners and winemakers, George Majka and
Jane Payne, have specialized in award-winning fruit wines. Their nine
premium wines range from the semi-dry Jonathan Oak-Aged Reserve through
semi-sweet Golden and sweet Orchard Spice apple wines to three
outrageously fruity, highly aromatic dessert wines made from peaches,
blueberries, and strawberries. In addition to winning a Best of Show at
the Indy International Wine Judging, Pomona Winery has been awarded
the Illinois Governor's Cup in both 2002 (for Orchard Spice) and 2003
(for Golden Oak Aged Reserve) for the Best Fruit Wine made
from Illinois fruit.
Within
minutes of the winery, Little Grand Canyon, the River-to-River
Trail, Pomona Natural Bridge, La Rue Pine Hills and Cedar Lake provide
outdoor adventures. Or you may relax with a chilled glass of fine
Pomona Winery wine on the decks or in picnic areas in a beautiful
forested setting.
Follow the WINE TRAIL signs from Route 127. Enjoy this beautiful drive
to one of the most isolated spots in the state. Taste and purchase
exceptional wines and savor the natural surroundings.
